Yellowstone cast members haven’t heard from their former costar Kevin Costner since his divisive exit from the popular western show.
John Dutton star Kevin, 69, shocked fans across the globe in June when he announced that he would not be returning for the back half of the
fifth and final season of the Paramount juggernaut to instead focus on his film, Horizon.
While the upcoming last episodes will deal with the patriarch’s exit, it appears the man behind the no-nonsense ranch owner has somewhat distanced himself from his ex-colleagues.
Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com at the final premiere at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City on Thursday night, Yellowstone stars Ian Bohen and John Emmet Tracy revealed they’ve had zero contact with Kevin.
Ian, 48, who plays ranch hand Ryan, said: ‘I haven’t [heard from Kevin Costner]. We haven’t corresponded in some time.
‘He’s been tremendously busy with his film, so I wish him the best and I hope he’s doing well.’
Ellis Steele star John, 55, also shared that he has not had any communication with Kevin, but nevertheless heaped praise on the actor for making Yellowstone ‘so legendary’.
‘No, no, I haven’t heard anything from him,’ he told DailyMail.com.
‘I don’t know if the others have, [but] I will say though that he’s an amazing man to work with and he’s a legend and I think he has contributed so much to making Yellowstone so legendary.’
Kevin announced his exit from Yellowstone in a video uploaded to his social media account.
In the short clip, he said: ‘I just want to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that’s required, and thinking about Yellowstone — that beloved series that I love, that I know you love — I just realized that I’m not going to be able to continue Season 5b or into the future.’
‘It was something that really changed me,’ he continued. ‘I loved it, and I know you loved it.
‘I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning.’
It was a star-studded night at the Yellowstone premiere with cast members out in full force to celebrate the end of the road.
Luke Grimes, who plays Kevin’s onscreen son Kacey Dutton, posed alongside his onscreen wife Kelsey Asbille (Monica), along with a few single poses.
Also on hand for the event and screening were co-stars Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton) and her series partner Cole Hauser (Rip Wheeler), as well as Wes Bentley (Jamie Dutton), and Gil Birmingham (Chief Thomas Rainwater).
Recurring cast members Wendy Moniz (Governor Lynelle Perry) and Piper Perabo (Summer Higgins) were also in attendance.
Meanwhile, Kevin attended an awards ceremony in Germany where he received the BAMBI Award in the Actor International category for his acting excellence, visionary creativity, and outstanding contributions to the film industry.
Created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, Yellowstone follows the Dutton family, owners of the largest ranch in Montana, commonly known as The Yellowstone.
The plot revolves around family drama at the ranch, as well as the conflicts along the ranch’s shared border with the Broken Rock Indian reservation, Yellowstone National Park, and land developers.
The series, which stars Kevin as family patriarch John Dutton III, premiered on the Paramount Network in June 2018, and has been a huge hit for the network since its inception.
