This week on Yellowstone, viewers got a look at the dirty details of John Dutton’s death, saw a long-awaited confrontation between Kayce (Luke Grimes) and Jamie (Wes Bentley), watched Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) discuss the future of the Dutton ranch, and witnessed yet another deadly hit on an unsuspecting character.
At the end of Yellowstone Season 5, Episode 11, “Three Fifty-Three,” a short preview for Episode 12 aired teasing the upcoming drama, conflict, and chaos that awaits in the season’s third to last episode.
While it feels like our shortest preview yet, the first look at Yellowstone Season 5, Episode 12 does offer some new dialogue; fresh scenes featuring the Dutton siblings; and a glimpse at trouble ahead for characters like Jamie, Kayce, and Rip (Cole Hauser).
Without further ado, here’s a breakdown of Paramount Network’s newest Episode 512 teaser trailer ahead of the premiere on Sunday, December 1. Be warned: Spoilers lie ahead.
What’s In The Yellowstone Season 5 Episode 12 Preview?
The latest look at Yellowstone Season 5’s final three episodes kicked off by showring a man on the phone with Kayce, saying, “Your brother is refusing to cooperate. Does that surprise you?”
After Kayce replies, “Not really,” the teaser cuts to a shot of Jamie, frantically gathering papers in an office. In other words, the war to avenge John Dutton’s death rages on.
In Season 5, Episode 11, we saw the medical examiner perform an autopsy in front of Kayce, confirm John Dutton’s signs of struggle, and give police the green light to reopen his death case as a homicide investigation. We also saw Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri) get murdered while she was on the phone with Jamie mere minutes after leaving his house. Based on the dialogue in the Episode 12 teaser, it seems Jamie is finally about to be investigated for something — but Kayce and Beth have different ideas as to whether or not that’s a good thing…
“Police are circling Jamie. This is all gonna come to a head real quick,” Kayce tells Beth in the Episode 12 preview. “If they arrest Jamie, he will sing every secret our father ever had. He will ruin this family’s name to save his own,” a concerned Beth replies.
As we know from the numerous times she’s threatened it, Beth wants Jamie dead and she wants her smiling face to be the last thing on Earth he ever sees. For her, the revenge is and always has been personal, so a prison sentence of any kind likely wouldn’t give her the same satisfaction. Ultimately, we’ll have to wait and see how the Dutton sibling rivalry shakes out in the final three episodes. Until then, here are some final Yellowstone morsels to speculate over.
As the teaser trailer nears its end, sped-up spliced scenes offer snippets of the journey ahead that don’t make much sense without more context — nevertheless, we’re here to report them!
One clip shows Beth walking outside with a large brown box in hand. Another shows her tending to Carter (Finn Little), who appears to have a bloody face after a horse altercation teased in an earlier preview. Once again, we see a frustrated Rip toss a glass of alcohol into a fire place. We also see Lloyd (Forrie J. Smith) riding a horse, Carter running in the barn, and Rip looking worried on horseback.
In the final mysterious moments of the 512 preview, we see an unknown person closing a menacing-looking black briefcase, we see Kayce in his Prison Break-esque incognito hoodie walking to a black car and opening the door (from previous teasers we suspect he may be concealing a weapon or some other object in that hoodie), and in the final scene he says, “You should be scared. I know everything.”
Who’s he threatening? What does the future hold for him, Beth, and Jamie? What’s the fate of the Dutton ranch? And will more blood be spilled before Yellowstone‘s fifth season ends? We’ll see you back here next Sunday for some more answers.
