Jake Paul issues apology after Mike Tyson releases emotional statement

Mike Tyson issued an emotional post after the boxing legend lost to YouTuber Jake Paul on Friday night.

In a post on social media the 58-year-old revealed that he ‘almost died’ in June.

He said: “This is one of those situations when you lost but still won. I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in the ring one last time.

“I almost died in June. Had eight blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight, so I won.

“To have my children see me stand toe-to-toe and finish eight rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.”

Paul had admitted after the fight that he backed off a bit in the latter stages of the fight as he saw Tyson tire and did not pursue a knockout.

He later apologised to his fans for that decision telling his BS w/ Jake Paul podcast: “I’m sorry I didn’t knock him out.

“After I’d seen him tired I didn’t want to put too much hurt on him, but I wanted the fans to get a good experience.

“But there was a point where my aggression and violence went away when I wasn’t getting hit. I love Mike.”

Mike Tyson refuses to retire after Jake Paul defeat

Mike Tyson has refused to call time on his boxing career despite losing to Jake Paul on Friday night.

The former heavyweight world champion was defeated via a unanimous decision over the eight rounds with Paul claiming he went easy on him during the latter rounds, deciding not to pursue a knock out.

Yet despite Tyson’s underwhelming performance he insists he could return to the ring and chose his next opponent in the immediate aftermath of the bout.

Ariel Helwani asked him if this had been his final fight. He replied: “I don’t think so. It depends on the situation.

“I don’t think so, I don’t know, maybe I’ll fight his brother [Logan Paul].”

Logan Paul appeared shocked at the challenge, and replied: “I’d kill you Mike.”

His response to Tyson’s challenge was slammed by fans on social media with former cruiserweight world champion Tony Bellew calling out the WWE star.

He said: “Why be so disrespectful Logan Paul?? ‘I’d kill you’, do these idiots understand what Mike Tyson would do to them!

“He’d beat them so bad they would beg for him to stop! Saying you’d kill a grandfather is tough isn’t it… I pray Mike stays safe.”

Boxer who worked on undercard claims Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight was ‘fixed’

A boxer who worked on the undercard of the Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight has claimed it was fixed.

Paul claimed a unanimous victory over 58-year-old Tyson at the home of the Dallas Cowboys on Friday night.

In the build up to the event a supposed leaked script began circulating online but due to a number of errors, the conspiracy theory was soon quashed.

However, Sara Bailey, the women’s WBA world light flyweight champion who was in the corner of Lucas Bahdi, the Canadian lightweight who fought on the undercard of Paul vs Tyson on Friday night, has suggested that the main event was set up in order for Tyson to not take significant punishment from Paul, who is 31 years younger.

She told ES NEWS after the fight: “Yeah, it was fixed, I’m sorry.” While Bahdi added: “I think he [Paul] took it easy.”

Paul admitted in his post-fight press conference that he did not actively look to beat Tyson by knockout.

When asked if he took his foot off the gas he said: “Yeah, definitely a bit. I wanted to give the fans a show but I didn’t want to hurt someone that didn’t need to be hurt.”

Paul has been praised by boxing legend Andre Ward for his decision to ease off.

He said: “To be honest with you, I appreciate that. I wasn’t going to be feeling that. What’s the worst that’s going to happen [if you don’t knock Tyson out], you get a few boos? But you still honour and pay homage to an all-time great.”

However, this will concern those who gambled on the fight, with bookmakers pricing Paul to beat Tyson by KO at 7/5.

Jake Paul sends fresh message to Mike Tyson after last night’s win

Jake Paul says he wants to fight Conor McGregor next

Paul has since said that he wants to fight Conor McGregor next.

Earlier today, Paul took to X and wrote: “Dear Conor, I know you told my team you would fight me at 170lbs. That’s never happening.

“But let’s run it in MMA. No weight class. Just like how it used to be done. But you won’t.”

Paul also called McGregor out after the fight with Tyson was over claiming that McGregor wouldn’t be able to handle him…

Piers Morgan praised for what he said after Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul

Piers Morgan has been praised for what he said after Mike Tyson was defeated by Jake Paul.

Morgan took to social media platform X to praise the legendary boxer despite the loss.

@MikeTyson would have destroyed @jakepaul in 90 seconds. A 58yr-old Tyson went 8 rounds against a much fitter and very capable boxer half his age. Mock him all you like, but Mike’s got the heart of a lion, balls of steel, and will always be an absolute legend.”

Many agreed with the typically controversial journalist’s sentiment with one fan saying: “For once, we agree!”

His post gained over 4.5k likes and 16k retweets.

However, Paul took exception to Morgan’s comment asking: “Who mocked him? He’s a f***ing beast. All respect to the Baddest Ever. It was an honour to share the ring with him.”

Jake Paul claims he beat Mike Tyson despite being injured

Jake Paul has claimed he beat Mike Tyson despite suffering an injury days earlier.

On Friday night, after eight rounds, Paul won the highly-anticipated fight via a unanimous decision.

Following the bout, Paul claimed in a press conference that he was injured in the days leading up to the showdown.

He said: “Two weeks ago I sprained my ankle, completely tore the ligament, anterior ligament and like snapped the other side of my foot.

“[I] Was on crutches for four or five days and it just hindered the end of my training camp. I don’t know how it didn’t get leaked or anything. I missed about two weeks of sparring and that’s why my cardio didn’t really feel so good tonight.”

Paul also spoke on his future saying: “I’ve been in this sport for four years, I’ve been so active. If people want to see more then give me a couple more months. I’m going to accomplish more.

“It can happen in the next 24 months, I believe I can become a world champion within six years of learning how to throw a f***ing jab. It’ll be the greatest sports story ever. The cruiserweight division is pretty open.”

Tyson and Paul set to make huge amount of money from last night’s fight

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul are set to make a staggering amount of money from last night’s Texas showdown.

After a postponement and speculation about whether or not it would actually go ahead, YouTuber Paul, 27, beat legendary boxer Tyson, 58, in the highly-anticipated Netflix bout.

According to reports Tyson has walked away with a tidy $20 million (£15.8 million) for his efforts while Paul is set to bank $40 million (£31.7 million).

Tyson and Paul suspended after Netflix fight

Both Jake Paul and Mike Tyson have been suspended from boxing after their controversial Netflix bout.

Paul managed to defeat Tyson via unanimous decision after Tyson tired in the later rounds.

However, the pair will have to hang up their gloves for a while as they are set to be temporarily suspended from the sport.

The fight, which took place at the home of the Dallas Cowboys, was licenced under the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The board implemented a condition in which the pair would be suspended for a minimum of seven days to recuperate post-fight.

The guidance reportedly went on to state that each boxer should rest for three days per round fought meaning they will actually be forced out of the ring for 24 days.

Fans blast Netflix for ‘embarrassing’ broadcast as millions were unable to watch Mike Tyson v Jake Paul

Fans have blasted Netflix after buffering prevented them from watching the highly anticipated fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.Paul defeated Tyson by unanimous decision but many fans were left unable to view the scenes in Texas as Netflix appeared to crash with the increase in traffic.

Fans on both sides of the Atlantic faced poor image quality, prolonged buffering and spotty audio throughout Friday’s undercard.

By 10.35pm New York time, Downdetector showed that more than 80,000 customers were experiencing issues.

One person wrote on X: “Netflix is scamming everyone into watching a fight they have no idea how to support technically.”

Someone else joked: “Someone at Netflix is gonna write a looooong “Incident Report” document next week.”

A third asked: “So… Are you even gonna apologize for that horrendous stream? I bet the guys from

@wwe are absolutely thrilled right now.”

Others called it a disaster while many threatened to cancel their Netflix subscription after being left frustrated.

It wasn’t just the fans that were having trouble, the hosts also suffered technical difficulties as Kate Scott, Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield struggled to hear each other.

Tyson, 58 is taking on a man less than half his age in the form of 27-year-old YouTuber Paul, making this the biggest age gap between two fighters in professional boxing history.

It will be Iron Mike’s first professional fight since 2005 and the first time he has stepped in the ring since he took on Roy Jones Jr in an exhibition in 2020.

Paul, meanwhile, last fought in February as he stopped Ryan Bourland in the first round, with his only loss coming to Tommy Fury.

The fight will be contested over eight, two-minute rounds with both Paul and Tyson wearing 14-ounce gloves in the ring and no headgear.

It had been scheduled to take place in July, but the fight was postponed after Tyson was hospitalised with a stomach ulcer and was advised by his doctor to refrain from any heavy training in order to recover.
